Before repeating PSA, give the number some context.
If I need another blood draw, I want it to answer something. Another result without a follow-up plan would give me something to worry about, but very little to work with.
For a newly high PSA, I would agree on a repeat date with my doctor. I would mention recent infection, difficulty emptying my bladder or a prostate procedure before booking, because those can affect the timing.
I would save the preparation on my phone: check whether to avoid ejaculation and vigorous cycling for two days beforehand, and list my medicines. Finasteride and dutasteride can lower PSA, so the person reading my result needs to know. I would not stop them myself.
Then I would book both the repeat test and the results conversation. A phone reminder would be welcome, too. This would be a perfectly reasonable time to give my memory some help.
