Day 2 · Week 1 · AI & self-care
I asked about one medical word. Now there are five more.
I ask about one medical word and get five unfamiliar ones back. In that situation, I would not memorize the paragraph. I would ask it to try again.
I would enter one term, ask for one plain sentence and a familiar comparison, and include where that comparison stops being accurate. An analogy would help me understand an idea, not diagnose myself.
A prompt I'd try:
Copy the prompt, then open ChatGPT and paste it into a new chat.
Explain this medical term: [term]. I'm a college-educated adult without medical training. Start with one plain-language sentence, then one familiar comparison and where that comparison stops being accurate. If I provide a sentence using the term, rewrite that sentence in everyday words without adding new medical claims. Don't infer a diagnosis from the term alone. Keep it under 120 words.
Copy manually
Press and hold the text below, choose Copy, then paste it in ChatGPT.
Then I would close the answer and explain the idea in my own words. Wherever I got stuck would become my next question, or something to check with my doctor. Understanding one thing would beat politely pretending to understand everything. I would still need to check that the explanation was right.
