Day 1 · Week 1 · AI & self-care
Before my health question, I would ask for plain words.
Medical language can confuse smart people. Many of my patients are well educated and still find a report hard to follow. In someone else's specialty, I would probably need a slower explanation, too.
If I used AI to help, I would enter one test name, such as PSA, rather than my whole report. I would leave out names and other identifying details, then add the prompt below to ask for ordinary language.
A prompt I'd try:
Copy the prompt, then open ChatGPT and paste it into a new chat.
Explain this without assuming medical knowledge. Use everyday words, explain medical terms, and give me three short takeaways. Say what you're unsure about. Don't guess about my situation.
Copy manually
Press and hold the text below, choose Copy, then paste it in ChatGPT.
After reading, I would pick one unclear part, ask for another explanation, and save my main question for the visit. Fluency would not establish accuracy, and this prompt would not change privacy settings. I would want less time lost in terminology and a better conversation with my doctor.
